Mokdong Indoor Ice Rink , an international standard indoor ice rink in Seoul, opened in 1989 and has been operated as the birthplace of Korean winter sports. In August 2019, the private company Waikiki Mokdong Ice Rink was commissioned by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to create an ice rink that citizens can enjoy together. In addition to contributing to the development of elite sports, it is also expanding the base of winter sports as a form of recreational sports and serving as a leisure space for citizens.
